On the 4th of July weekend, 2008, members and friends of St. Elizabeth's went on a trek to Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii, called "Roots and Wings Expedition." We went to explore the Chinese and Hawaiian roots of St. Elizabeth's which grew abundantly in the good soil of the Kohala Coast. It was in Kohala that the first Chinese immigrants came to Hawaii. We made a pilgrimage to the places seeds were first planted, St. Paul's Church.

We also had the rare privilege of making a pilgrimate to the birthplace of King Kamehameha the Great and Mo'okini Heiau. Many of St. Elizabeth's Hawaiian members can trace their roots of faith back to the good earth of Kohala.
